Concrete Coatings

A durable and beautiful way to transform your concrete floors

Concrete coatings offer several benefits, from protecting your concrete surfaces to elevating the look of your space. Many homeowners find it to be a cost-effective solution for garages and porches that not only experience heavy foot traffic but also get pounded with dirt, road salt, and dropped tools. Concrete coatings also provide the opportunity to completely customize your space, since you get to choose your epoxy flake colors or decorative coating style.

Find out how it works, what options are available, and how a concrete coating solution could benefit your space.

Our standard process

We specialize in epoxy flake and also offers decorative cementitious coatings, like our popular wood floor look. The three steps below provide an overview of our standard process once we’re ready to roll on your concrete project.

Prep

Each install begins with the complete preparation of the surface to be coated. We start by grinding the concrete with our diamond grinders, followed by repairing small cracks, spalling, and addressing minor imperfections in the floor.

Clean

After grinding the floor, we thoroughly clean to remove all dust and debris. This ensures the proper adhesion of the coating to the floor.

Coat

After cleaning, we apply the base coat into which we broadcast epoxy flake for full coverage. This coat will cure for 12–24 hours before we return to scrape the floor, ensuring an evenly textured surface void of sharp edges. We clean the floor again before finishing with our top coat of UV-stable polyaspartic.

Our coatings

Guardian Coatings KC uses a multi-layered poly-blend flake coating system to transform dirty, hard-to-clean concrete floors into beautiful, durable, and seamless surfaces. We use a high-solids content base coat of polyurea into which we broadcast epoxy flake, followed by a low-odor, low-VOC UV-stable top coat.

Through our process, our coating will stand the test of time, with a much higher degree of success than products from a big box store or concrete paint. When properly maintained, you can expect your floor to stay vibrant for years to come.

Benefits of concrete coatings

Aesthetics

Our coatings bring new life to concrete by turning dirty, bland surfaces into seamless, show-stopping floors. You can showcase your personality with your choice of epoxy flake colors, or you can take your floor to the next level with our decorative cementitious coatings.

Durability

By chemically adhering to concrete, our poly-blend flake coatings create extremely strong and resilient surfaces that can withstand heavy foot traffic and impact from dropped objects. They’re great for garage floors because they stand up well to hot tires and fluid leaks from vehicles, as well as salt, slush, and road grime.

Ease of Maintenance

The smooth and seamless coating creates a waterproof surface that prevents dirt, dust, and debris from penetrating the floor. Because it’s non-porous, it also blocks spills from seeping into and damaging your floor.

Increase in Property Value

A high-quality concrete coating can increase a home’s property value. A garage, for example, is often one of the last (and sometimes forgotten) spaces that homeowners address. An updated garage that showcases a modern, clean floor can lead to the assumption that the property itself is clean and well-maintained.
